Hospital Bag Guidelines

For you:

  • Comfortable pyjamas (with buttons if breastfeeding)
  • Nightgown, slippers and socks
  • Maternity bras and breast pads
  • Comfortable t-shirt or nightgown to wear during labour
  • Comfortable cotton knickers and maternity pads
  • TENS machine (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) to help with pain control
  • Toiletries and towel (roll on deodorant if breast feeding)
  • Camera or video camera

You may also like to bring:

  • Massage oil to aid relaxation during labour. We recommend Lavender, Clary sage and Neroli essential oils
  • An electric aromatherapy burner to help create a relaxed environment during labour
  • An iPod with relaxing music / hypno-birthing recordings

For your baby:

  • 6 vests
  • 6 babygrows (all-in-one bodysuits)
  • Blanket
  • Hat
  • Scratch mittens
  • Nappies
  • Cotton wool and towel
  • Muslin clothes
  • Bottles, teats, milk and steriliser if you are bottle feeding
  • Baby car seat for the journey home
